Training & Why Should I Attend?
Training is a very important tool for you to use to assist in having a
successful year at your local unit. It
not only gives you a chance to hear useful information but it allows you to
“brainstorm” with officers’ from other units.
The training classes coming up are the Transition Workshop & School of Information.
Spotlight on the Transition Workshop:
Let me ask you a question, when you were elected as an officer what type of transition did you have? Did someone sit with you and tell you what was expected and how things had been done? Or did they just give you the books and say “go for it”? Perhaps you didn’t get anything at all. This workshop trains you on the best way to hand things over to new officers. It helps you learn what things to share, which may be things you take for granted. Even if you are staying in the same position, this workshop will help you know what information to gather for the upcoming year so you can easily transition next year.
“School of Information”
This is for all new and returning officers and is job specific. It helps give a crash course in job duties for all officers. The classes are broken down by Treasurer, Secretary, and a combined class for Vice President and President. Parliamentarians are also encouraged to attend if they are already appointed. In addition this year we will have a Reflections section, so please appoint a Reflections chair and have them attend.
Dates for both of these Workshops are listed below as well as other upcoming events…
